Katanga

Katanga is the southernmost province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, formerly Zaire, a Belgian territory. In 1960, Katanga, under its provincial leader, Moise Tshombe rebelled against the newly independent Democratic Republic and itself declared independence in 1960.
