Qatar & DubaiThe Qatar and Dubai Currency Board existed for 6 years from 1967 to 1973 and was created effectively as a joint venture between Qatar and Dubai, before they became full independent states. Qatar became a sovereign state in Spetmber 1971 and Dubai became part of the United Arab Emirates in December 1971. Notes continued to be circulated until 1973, when the Qatar-Dubai Currency Agreement of 1966 was terminated. A comprehensive reference site about the Qatar and Dubai Currency Board has been produced by Peter Symes and can be found at Islamic Bank Notes
